Human Connectedness to the Seen... and the Unseen.
E.E. Hagerstarted painting very young and has continued despite several entrepreneurial careers in landscape architecture, digital atlas landscape technology, and now, landscapes of the perishable: the human heart.
Raised on the prairie, she moved to San Francisco many years ago and still calls it home. Subjects of interest are all forms of that connection and beauty even when it is not. The landscape of the human body are favorite themes to connect the viewer with what the subject sees. Dance is fodder for speaking about authentic connections between us. She had been dancing Argentinean Tango for years when inspired to catch the magic of simple human connection in the dance and moment. In Tango, both the leader and the follower maintain their own balance and power has a delicate touch - as feathers are light yet exceedingly strong, belying their ability to carry the weight aloft. It is, in the best sense, a dynamic dance of life: oil and water mix in motion and in moment.
E.E. Hager favors the use of acrylics and mixed media on canvas. In many cases original photos, foundobjects such as feathers and paper prints are used in juxtaposition with the paint. Feathers symbolize, for the artist, interesting qualities of strength: fortitude and resilience are found in surprising packages. The artist also uses various mixed media, photo collage and found objects as symbols. In the artist's view thoughts grow things and are incorporated into the mix of imagery.
